LOGAN, Utah - Erin Graybill recorded a career-high 20 kills and added seven blocks to lead Utah State's women's volleyball team to a come from behind five-game win against Idaho (27-30, 26-30, 30-26, 30-27, 15-12) here Wednesday night. USU improves to 16-9 overall and 8-3 in the Western Athletic Conference with the win, while Idaho falls to 13-11 on the year and 5-6 in league play with the loss.

Idaho controlled the match early as it hit .429 in game one and .229 in game two to take a commanding lead in the match. Idaho's defense was just as solid as it limited Utah State to a .205 hitting percentage in the first game and a .111 hitting percentage in the second as the Vandals recorded nine team blocks in those games.

Graybill got the Aggies going in game three as she recorded eight kills to led USU to the win. In game four, USU raced out to an early 9-2 lead and was up 18-11 before Idaho tied the score at 22. The Aggies responded, however, and scored four of the final five points in the game to even the score at two games apiece.

In the fifth and final game, there were six ties early on before Utah State scored three straight points to turn a 9-9 tie into a 12-9 advantage. Idaho fought back and got within one at 13-12, but USU registered two straight kills to complete the comeback.

Overall, Graybill hit .421 on the night, while Ingrid Roth hit .333 as she notched 15 kills. Zuzana Cernianska led Utah State with 22 kills, but hit just .190 in the match. Beth Hodge added 13 kills and a career-high 21 digs, while Dominique Arsenault had a season-high 64 assists to go along with six kills and a .462 hitting percentage.

Amanda Bowman led Idaho with 20 kills, while Haley Larsen had 19 kills.

 

 

As a team, Utah State hit .221 in the match with 87 kills and 38 attack errors, while Idaho had 69 kills and 23 errors and hit .240. The Vandals out-block USU 18.0-11.0, but the Aggies had 13 more digs (89-76) and five more service aces (6-1) in the match.

Utah State will return to action on Sat., Nov. 5 when it hosts Boise State.
