LOGAN, Utah - Utah State University head volleyball coach Grayson DuBose announced Monday that Shantell Durrant has joined the program and will begin competing for the Aggies in the fall of 2008. The 6'2" middle blocker will have three years of remaining eligibility at USU.

Durrant, a native of American Fork, Utah, spent the past two years as a member of the nationally ranked University of Washington volleyball team as she redshirted during the 2006 season before playing in nine games this past year.

"I am excited that Shantell has decided to become an Aggie and she will be an excellent addition to our program," said DuBose. "Shantell has received excellent training from her club coach, Jeremiah Larsen, and at the University of Washington. She is a great blocker and has had great experience which will bring an added element into our gym for the next three years."

At American Fork High School, Durrant was a four-year letterwinner and team captain two seasons as she earned third-team all-state honors as a senior. She was also a four-time academic all-region selection and a member of the high honor roll. Durrant played for the Summit Volleyball Club that placed second at the 2005 Big South Tournament in Atlanta and in the 2005 Crossroads Tournament in Denver. During her prep career, she was also an honorable mention all-state selection in basketball.
