Volleyball Hosts Utah Valley Tuesday Night

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team will play its second home match of the season on Tuesday, Sept. 16 when it hosts Utah Valley at 7 p.m. in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Over the last nine years, Utah State is 68-29 (.701) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum, which includes a 15-5 (.750) record against non-conference opponents and an 11-3 (.786) record against in-state foes.

Utah State is 1-9 on the season after finishing tied for third-place at the Utah Classic last weekend as it lost to Utah (3-0) and Saint Louis (3-1) and defeated No. 15 Purdue (3-2). USU is led by senior outside hitter Melissa Osterloh who is averaging 4.33 points, 3.67 kills, 1.81 digs and 0.67 blocks per set, while sophomore middle blocker Katie Astle is hitting .301 and averaging 1.67 kills and 1.06 blocks per set. As a team, Utah State is hitting .150 on the season as compared to a .283 hitting percentage for its opponents.

Utah Valley is 2-5 on the season after recording a pair of three-set wins against North Texas and Idaho State at home last weekend. The Wolverines are led by sophomore outside hitter Kayli Broadbent who is hitting .153 and averaging 3.20 kills and 1.32 digs per set. As a team, Utah Valley is hitting .165 on the season as compared to a .213 hitting percentage for its opponents.

Utah State is 3-1 all-time against Utah Valley, which includes a 2-0 record in Logan. The two teams split a pair of matches last year as USU won in four sets in Logan and UVU won in three sets in Orem.

Following its match against Utah Valley, Utah State will begin Western Athletic Conference play at San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m.
