Volleyball Movin' On Up In National Rankings
Oct. 23, 2000 LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's women's volleyball team continued its climb in the NCAA rankings this week as the Aggies jumped three spots to 19th in the country following sweeps of Idaho State, UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton last week. Utah State is 17-5 on the year and 7-2 in the Big West Conference, one game behind Pacific for first-place. USU remains 21st in the Volleyball Monthly Magazine Poll. The Aggies entered the polls one month ago after defeating Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara at home, marking the first time ever that USU has been ranked since the NCAA began sponsorship of women's volleyball in 1982. USU remained at 25th the following week before jumping to 22 following wins over Boise State and Utah, who was ranked 15th in the country at the time. Utah State will face a pair of tough challenges this weekend as it travels to No. 14 UC Santa Barbara on Oct. 27th before playing at Cal Poly on Oct. 28th.
