Logan, Utah -

Utah State men's cross country senior Kyle McKenna (20:52.17) and women's freshman Tori Parkinson (19:33.71) each took the title in their respective races at the Aggie Invitational, ran at the Innovation Campus Wellness Park Saturday. The men ran a four-mile race, while the women's course consisted of five-kilometers.

Utah State won both the men and women's team titles at USU's newly redesigned home course with 24 and 25 points, respectively. Utah Valley's Jason Lynch finished second after leading the way for the majority of the men's race before being passed by McKenna at the finish, with Aggie junior Eric Shellhorn (21:04.82) rounding out the top three. In the women's race, Parkinson was followed by UVU's Bridget Hazel (19:37.80) and Ivie Gonsalves (19:38.04), respectively.

Several other USU men finished in the top-10 for the Aggies, including fifth-place finisher sophomore Kade Jensen (21:19.42) as well as freshman Colby Wilson (21:24.16) and junior Jacob Barton (21:27.47), who finished eighth and ninth, respectively. On the women's side,  Utah State took the fourth through sixth spots with senior Alex Litzsinger (19:40.97), junior Ashley Robison (19:41.30) and sophomore Jacqueline Winterton (19:50.50). Freshman Cierra Simmons (19:57.03) rounded out the top-10 for the Aggies with a ninth-place finish.

"Our strategy today was to see where we are at. It's a hot day and all the water on the course we added made it a little more humid than normal, so the strategy was to start off in a pack, not necessarily in the back but not up front either and they played it well. Both on the men's and women's side they did a great job of reeling everybody in and making a great Aggie effort," said USU head coach Gregg Gensel.
