OREM, Utah - David Danley finished fourth to lead Utah State's men, while Lida Riplinger placed eighth to pace the Aggie women at the Brigham Young Autumn Classic cross country race here Saturday morning.

The Aggie women finished second out of four teams, while the USU men were third out of five. Brigham Young captured both team titles, while also having runners earn individual championships.

Danley, who won the Idaho State Invitational in USU's season-opening race last weekend, covered the four-mile course in 20:03.4. Josh Rohatinsky of BYU was first at 19:31.9, while Minnesota's Andrew Carlson was second at 19:39.8 and Bryan Lindsay of BYU was third at 20:01.3. USU's Clark Bryner also finished in the top 10 as phe laced eighth with a time of 20:32.6.

"David ran very well, considering he hadn't practiced much this week due to a required school field trip," said Aggie head coach Gregg Gensel. "For him to even be there at the end, was a thrill. Clark ran awfully well too."

Riplinger led the USU women as she came from back in the pack to record an eighth-place finish with a time of 18:51 on the five-kilometer course.

"Lida ran a really smart race," Gensel said. "She was behind at the beginning and kept running. Ashley (Johnson), learned that on this kind of course that you can't just go out and run ahaed, that you need to have a plan."

Four other Aggie women finished in the top 20, including Stacie Liffereth (13th), Johnson (14th), Becki Bostwick (16th) and Caroln Andrus (19th). Liffererth and Bostick are freshmen, while Johnson and Andrus are just sophomores.

"Our freshmen filled in pretty well," Gensel said of the young runners who are filling in for the injured Tiffany Strickland and Kristen Guymon. "We are looking forward to what we can do in Minnesota (Sept. 25)."

Utah State's next action will be at the Minnesota-hosted Griak Invitational, which features many of the nation's top teams each year, on Sept. 25.
