McKenna's Top 10 Finish Highlights USU Cross Country At NCAA Mountain Region Championships Saturday

PROVO, Utah - Utah State men's cross country senior captain Brian McKenna placed 10th with a time of 30:43.3 at the 2011 NCAA Mountain Region Championships Saturday in Provo, Utah, leading the men to a seventh-place finish. USU's women finished in 18th-place. McKenna earned all-Region honors and will wait for an invitation as an at-large runner to compete at the NCAA National Championships in Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, Nov. 21. They will announce the field on Monday. If invited, it will mark the second time McKenna has went to nationals for cross country after going in 2009. Redshirt junior captain Ruth Hilton was the top finisher for the USU women, as she came in 56th-place with a time of 22:43.5. Juniors Kaylee Campbell and Stephanie Burt placed 90th (23:36.5) and 104th (23:55.3), respectively, while freshman Brittany Bushman finished at 97th (23:43.6). Sophomores Brittany Fisher and Hannah Williams ended the day in 98th (23:44.3) and 108th (24:08.8). Other finishers for the Aggie men included seniors Daniel Howell (32nd, 31:25.9), Hunter Nelson (52nd, 32:04.0) and Eric Larson (60th, 32:52.2). Sophomores Kyle McKenna and Devin Lang finished 37th (31:36.0) and 82nd (32:58.9), respectively, while freshman Austin Neuner crossed the finish line in 69th place with a time of 32:39.1. Utah State's men's cross country celebrated their sixth Western Athletic Conference title in the last seven years on Oct. 29 in Honolulu, while the women placed third.
