LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's cross country teams will run in their first meet of the season at the Idaho State Invitational on Sat., Sept. 4. The race begins at 9 a.m. and will be run at ISU's Centennial Course. "I really want everyone to go out and work hard and have fun at this meet," said head coach Gregg Gensel. "I'm excited to see how we run as a group and to hopefully see that the training we did this summer paid off." The Utah State men's team will be anchored by juniors Trevor Ball and Clark Bryner. Ball finished seventh (19:01) at the ISU Invitational last season, while Bryner finished fifth (18:45) to pace the Aggies to a second-place finish. The Aggie men also welcome six freshmen to this year's squad in Edwin Chepsiror, Jason Holt, Ryan Jenks, Ben Kessen, Nathan Lloyd, and Steven Strickland. On the women's team, Utah State will look to sophomore Ashley Johnson. In her first collegiate meet, Johnson placed second at ISU last season with a time of 10:33. The women's team also placed second at the meet last season as five Aggies finished in the top 15. Utah State's next meet is the BYU Autumn Classic on Sept. 11.
