Oct. 2, 2008
LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's cross country teams head to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Oct. 3. After a week off the Aggies will compete in the 53rd running of the Notre Dame Invitational with the women starting the 5k race at 4:15 p.m. and the men following in an 8K at 5 p.m. The men's and women's teams both took second in their most recent race, the Montana State Invitational, on Sept. 20. The Aggies are looking to keep that same pace going into this large invitational where they will face athletes representing 25 men's teams and 23 women's teams in the blue division race Friday. The race will be held at the nine-hole Notre Dame Golf Course on Notre Dame's campus. The gold division will run first with the women starting at 2 p.m., and the men following at 3:45 p.m. The blue division will begin at 4:15 p.m. "One of the great things about going to this meet is the strength of the competition and the instant credibility it can provide to both our student-athletes and our team," said veteran USU head coach Gregg Gensel. "This will be the biggest meet we will have competed in all year and it will definitely help prepare us for the WAC Championships. Overall, I am expecting good things this weekend and I am anxious to see how some of our younger runners respond." The Aggies will continue action Oct. 18 at the Pre-National meet in Terre Haute, Ind.
