LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's cross country teams are set to run at the Mountain West Championships at the UNM North Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M., in a race hosted by the New Mexico Lobos. The men's 8-kilometer race is slated to begin at 10 a.m., while the women's 6-kilometer race will begin at 10:45 a.m.

Last season at the conference meet, the women placed sixth as a team with 148 points, while the men finished fourth wtih 131 points.

The Aggies also had a trio of athletes earn all-conference honors as senior Dillon Maggard earned first-team all-MW honors, junior Kashley Carter earned second-team all-MW honors and sophomore Luke Beattie was named the men's Freshman of the Year.

Utah State's women's team, currently ranked 12th in the nation, will have a good test as it will race against the No. 2-ranked Lobos, as well as No. 8 Boise State and an Air Force squad that is receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA poll.

Aside from being the highest ranked team in the conference, New Mexico has won the race each of the last nine years.

The Aggies will look to junior Alyssa Snyder to finish high at the race, while the Aggies' depth will look to help earn a low score. Junior Cierra Simmons, senior Tori Parkinson and Carter have all been top-four finishers for the Aggies this season.

On the men's side, USU's No. 19-ranked team will also compete in a deep race, as No. 9 Colorado State, No. 17 Air Force and a Boise State team that is receiving votes will all run at the meet.

Utah State will be led by Maggard, who has earned three MW Athlete of the Week awards and a USTFCCCA National Runner of the Week award this season. He has placed in the top five of all four races he's competed in. The trio of sophomores Beattie, J.D. Thorne and James Withers have all consistently finished strong for the Aggies this season, as well.
