2008 Cross Country WAC Championships Central

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men and women's cross country teams head to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Western Athletic Conference championships Saturday, Nov. 1. The Aggie men have won three-straight WAC Championships, while the women won the team title in 2006.

The race will be held at the New Mexico State Golf Course, where the women's 5K race will begin at 10 a.m. and the men follow in an 8K race starting at 10:45 a.m.

"Our men are looking forward to defending their WAC Championship and our women are excited about the possibilities of the weekend," said veteran USU head coach Gregg Gensel.

Both Aggie teams were voted number one in the WAC coaches' poll this week. Senior Ben Kessen has led the Aggies, coming in as the top finisher in all but one race this season, while senior Caroline Berry has been the top finisher for the Aggie women the past two races.

"We are excited and as prepared as we can be for the WAC Championships this weekend," added Gensel. "At this point, there is nothing extra we can do to better prepare ourselves, and hopefully we will be up to the challenge."

Following the WAC Championships the Aggies will have a week off before heading to the NCAA Mountain Regionals in Fort Collins, Colo. on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 9 a.m.
