In all, approximately 51 percent of USU's student-athletes earned a 3.2 GPA to qualify for the awards.
This Season: Will battle with Mike Ahmad for the starting center position... A solid post player that can shoot from the perimeter as well... Has very good skills for a big man and is a very good passer... Has been very well coached throughout his career... Proved to be a very good defender as he sat out last season and practiced on the scout squad... A physically mature player.
2002 Season (TR): Sat out the 2001-02 season after transferring from Utah.
Previous School: Played in 38 games at Utah where he averaged 2.1 points and 2.3 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game... Shot 60.9 percent from the field and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line... Scored a career-high 10 points against BYU on Feb. 12, 2000.
High School: Named all-state and all-league twice at Roy High School... Two-time team MVP... Averaged 20.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game as a senior and 15.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots as a junior... Led his team to the Region 1 title as a sophomore... Was also a three-year letterman in track and field... Was student body president as a senior.
Personal: Born Jan. 26, 1978 in Ogden, Utah... One of three children of Paul and Julie Puzey... Uncle Bill Puzey and grandfather John Broberg played basketball at Utah State, and his sister Kathy played volleyball at Utah State... Enjoys the outdoors and fishing... Served an LDS Church mission to Sweden... A pre-physical therapy major.
