Utah State is in its first season in the Mountain West after eight seasons in the Western Athletic Conference. The Aggies are now 1-2 in MW play and 11-4 overall.
USU is now 1-3 this season when trailing at halftime, falling to 48-87 when trailing at intermission under head coach Stew Morrill.
The Aggies are 9-3 this season when out-rebounding the opponents... Of the last 39 games that USU has out-rebounding its opponents, the Aggies have had a double-digit rebounding edge 25 times, including nine total times this season and six of the last eight games... USU is now 20-5 during those 25 games with double-digit rebounding edge.
USU is 2-2 on the road this season and Utah State has won 30 of its last 50 road games and is 108-88 in road games under head coach Stew Morrill.
Utah State and Nevada played for the 47th time in what is the 18th-oldest rivalry in school history. The Aggies own a 31-16 advantage, which includes a 13-12 road record. Overall, Nevada has won the last three meetings in the series after USU had won the previous five match-ups.
Utah State is 34-41 overall against teams from the state of Nevada, posting a 31-16 record against Nevada, as well as 3-27 against UNLV. The Aggies are 29-37 overall on Nevada soil, registering a 13-5 neutral record in Reno, 13-12 at Nevada, 2-5 neutral court record in Las Vegas and 1-14 at UNLV.
Utah State is now 22-16 all-time in the Lawlor Events Center.
Utah State is 93-32 during the month of January under veteran head coach Stew Morrill, which includes a 37-25 road record. Tonight was USU's ninth game on a Saturday, its most-played on day of the week so far this season, posting a 6-3 mark on the date. The Aggies' loss Saturday night snapped a five-game win streak on the date for USU, improving to 11-6 in known games played on the 11th day of the first month of the calendar year.
USU's 28 points in the first half and its 34.5 percent field goal shooting were both its lowest in the first half this season... Both are the Aggies' fewest since March 2, 2013 at UT Arlington when USU had 22 points on 29.6 percent field goal shooting.
The Aggies' 54 points and 31.3 percent were season-lows... Both are also USU's fewest since March 2, 2013 at UT Arlington when the Aggies finished with 46 points and 30.4 percent field goal shooting.
USU is now 26-51 under head coach Stew Morrill when scoring less than 60 points.
Utah State's two three-pointers made Saturday night tied its season-low, matching two makes at Weber State (11/26/13).
The Aggies' 12.5 percent behind the arc is a season-low and lowest since 8.3 percent (1-of-12) in 2010-11 season-opener at Weber State on Nov. 13, 2010.
Senior center Jarred Shaw has now scored in double-digits in eight games this season, after his streak of five in a row was halted with only 6 against SJSU... Shaw now has 34 double-digit scoring games in his career.
It was the fifth time this season that Shaw has led USU in scoring.
With eight rebounds Saturday, Shaw has snared seven or more boards in each of his last five games.
Sophomore forward Kyle Davis led the Aggies in rebounding a team-high ninth time with nine rebounds Saturday... While Davis had his streak of double-figure rebounding totals snapped at three in a row, it was his 10th game in a row with six or more rebounds.
Senior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield has snared four or more rebounds in 14 of 15 games with his seven boards Saturday.
Senior guard TeNale Roland had a season-high six assists Saturday, his fifth game in a row with three or more helpers and ninth game this season.
