Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"I was pleased with our guys. We bounced back and after playing poorly at Nevada, really competed tonight. It wasn't perfect, obviously, but it was a good old-fashioned slugfest. It was a hard-fought, physical basketball game. Baskets were hard to come by out there. They were good defensively and we were good defensively. We made enough plays and enough shots to get out of there with a win. It was a tough, physical game and we responded after a poor effort at Nevada. That was nice to see. This is what we have to do to have a chance in the Mountain West. We have to compete at a high level and we have to be physical. You have to do everything you can to give yourself a chance to win. It doesn't mean you will win, but you give yourself a chance by competing. It was a lot better effort by our guys."
Senior Center Jarred Shaw...
"We just stayed with it. Coach said it was going to be a tough up-and-down game. They played physical. Our defense kept us in the game, then we made some plays offensively and it helped us out. We were lucky we won. I just got my confidence going. They do a good job guarding the post, so I knew I wasn't going to be able to get the ball on the block a lot. I just had my hands ready and finished when I could. It's always good when you're making threes."
Senior Guard/Forward Spencer Butterfield...
"We knew coming in that it was going to be a tough, physical game. Coach did a good job of preparing us for that battle and we were able to come out on top tonight. We had so much motivation to come in and bounce back from Saturday's game. That carried us through the game tonight and we responded the right way. We had a little bit of carry-over from the last game as we get started, but once shots started going in, it got our confidence going. I think a big part of it was our defense. Even though we weren't hitting shots at first, we came back to play really good defense."
Colorado State Head Coach Larry Eustachy...
"We played well. It's disappointing, we had a chance to win and we just didn't play as a whole. I feel bad for J.J. (Avila) and I feel really bad for Daniel (Bejarano) because they played well enough to win against a very good team. I just thought they were let down. It's a team sport and we lost as a team. We'll learn from it. I'm used to the fans here encouraging me instead of yelling at me, so that was different, but it was good, it was really good. It was nice to come back."
