Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

USU head coach Tim Duryea:
"In this series, it seems like every game goes down to the wire. I was asked before the game what the most important thing was or what's the biggest key. One thing I could think of was finish. We needed to finish. We've been in this situation a lot with these guys, where with three or four minutes to go, it's anybody's game. We haven't done a very good job of finishing. Tonight, we did. We made some plays on the defensive end, we made a couple big shots. We didn't really plan it this way, but we did a really good job on their secondary scorers in terms of (Alex) Hobbs, (Marcus) Dickinson, who hurt us last time a bunch, and we did a great job on Justinian Jessup. Stopping those three guys was the key when we didn't, obviously, do the job on (Chandler) Hutchison there in the second half late in the game and in the first half he had, like, nine points in eight minutes. He was just a handful tonight. He was really, really good. With that being the case, the key was shutting the secondary scorers down, we did a good job doubling them in the post, held our own where we got a couple of key rebounds when we needed to and it all turned out well. Heck of a college game."

USU sophomore guard Koby McEwen:
"We played solid overall. They started playing power basketball, getting it in the post and trying to work us down low. We need to do a better job of defending that and keeping them off of the glass. We had a couple of possessions that weren't really good possession offensively, the ball kind of stuck. Overall, we played a really good game, we fought hard all 40 minutes. We didn't have a doubt that we were going to win this game. I'm proud of my guys, I'm happy for Aggie nation and for beating the number one team in the league. We have work to do Monday to prepare for the game on Wednesday."

USU junior forward Dwayne Brown Jr.:
“We played well overall. I don’t think we ever had a doubt that we were going to win. In the first half, we had some ups and downs because of the turnovers and a lot of offensive rebounds from their two bigs, but for the most part, we played fine the whole game, and the result showed that; we won."

BSU head coach Leon Rice:
"They created a lot of turnovers tonight, and we gave them some turnovers, but they had active hands and were slapping the ball. They created a lot of opportunities there, and we helped them with that. We just didn’t defend them very well either. They shot 58 percent in the second half, and it’s tough to win on the road or anywhere if you’re giving up 58 percent.”
