Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"The whole story of the game is how their athleticism controlled everything. You have to give them credit. They were on it defensively. We couldn't get clean looks, we couldn't score in the post, they blocked shot after shot, they chased our perimeter guys off screens with their athleticism. Then we had a really difficult time guarding them at the other end - man, zone, whatever we tried they seemed to handle. They're a handful. With their talent level they're a handful. The start of the second half was key. They kind of boatraced us and we didn't respond very well. They made shots and played hard. I don't think we didn't play hard, we just didn't play very well. They're the reason we didn't play well."
Senior Guard TeNale Roland...
"They blocked a lot of our shots and were really athletic on the break, so they got a lot of easy buckets. It was hard for us to guard. They do a good job of bringing the second big man over to block a lot of shots. That's when we need to dish out to our big men and make them play the basket. Shaw played great tonight. He did a good job of being patient and making good moves in the post."
Senior Center Jarred Shaw...
"I thought we played really hard, we just had some defensive slippage. In the second half they were just pushing the ball in transition. They beat us up and down the court there for awhile. They played better than us. We have to fix our defensive errors and come back Monday to get better. They were blocking shots. Every time a shot blocker came over, we'd miss a shot. We just have to learn from this one and move forward."
UNLV Head Coach Dave Rice...
"This is a terrific road win for us. I've been here as a player, assistant coach, assistant coach at Utah State and now as the head coach at UNLV and it doesn't get any easier. If you think about it, in 16 seasons Coach Morrill has only lost 25 games on his home floor, so it's a great accomplishment to come in against a team that is well-coached and was ready to play. I just thought our energy, camaraderie and everything in the second half was fantastic. We shot almost 70 percent from the floor, we were aggressive, we kept them off the three-point line and we got to their three-point shooters. They're a great basketball team, particularly on their home floor, so it was a great win for us."
