Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"Fresno State had a great night shooting the basketball and we couldn't do much to get them stopped. They made 11 threes. We played good enough offense, other than not shooting very well from three, to win the basketball game, but we just couldn't guard them, or wouldn't guard them, whatever. They just went around us. When we tried to play zone, they'd shoot a three. Our defense was lacking. It didn't seem at the start of the game that we were ready to play. That's my fault, their fault, whatever, but when we decided to play, we played pretty dang good offense. Our wings missed some open shots and it would have helped if we made some threes, but give Fresno State credit. They shot the ball really well. They did what they had to. It's disappointing that we let them come in here and beat us, but we're not the most confident group right now. We have to decide if we want to just play it out or play to win with three games left."
Senior Guard TeNale Roland...
"I just feel like we started out too slow. They got hot from the three-point line, shooting 47 percent from three. We started out slow and had to dig back out. They did a good job of driving the ball and kicking to their man on the wing. We've had a lot of close games that we've lost this year, but we have to keep battling."
Senior Center Jarred Shaw...
"Coach has been harping on us for awhile now, but we have got to find some way to get better on defense. Our one-on-one defense wasn't there tonight. They out-scrapped us and played better defense than us and that determined the game. In the second half we played Aggie basketball. We gritted our teeth and became determined on defense. It helped us get back into the game, but we lost that in the end of the second half."
Sophomore Forward Kyle Davis...
"Defensively we're a mess right now. We've got to figure it out. We'll get back to practice on Monday and try to figure it out. At halftime Coach just said we were getting our butts kicked on the rebounds. We had to take that personally. We're a good rebounding team. We can try to win each game. They beat us in the first half by five, but we beat them there in the second."
Fresno State Head Coach Rodney Terry...
"I'm really proud of our guys. We were playing against an extremely efficient offensive team that can really score. Their guys can really shoot and they've got great bigs inside. We were going against a really good offensive team tonight and I thought our guys did a much better job of defending. We didn't finish particularly well at the end of the game and I told our guys 'We'll get a chance to learn from this on how to the win but we've got to get that ball in bounds, get to the foul line and finish out the game the right way.' I'm extremely proud of the way they hung tough in a tough place to play."
