Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

USU head coach Tim Duryea:
"We missed shots. We missed open shot after open shot after open shot after open shot. We did what we needed to do to get shots. 12 for 43, I'm not sure three of those 43 threes were contested. The closest contested were Sam's (Merrill), and he went 7-for-12. Nobody else. Missed shots. They hurt us inside to begin with, and we adjusted at halftime and doubled them in the low post. That was effective. And then (Ryan) Welage and (Jaycee) Hillsman went to work and took advantage of us rotating out of the double team in the post and hurt us a little bit. They hit a couple key shots down the stretch that they needed to give them a little bit of a lead. We had a chance to tie there on the last play, had a play set up and Koby's (McEwen) has to take that and shoot it. We didn't have time once he came off the ball screen, he didn't have time to make a pass. We didn't even get the shot up in time. Really a frustrating game to score 62 points and have open look after open look after open look. I wish it was a little more complicated than that. They hurt us inside in the first half, we took that away. They hurt us from the perimeter a little bit in the second half, and we missed shots the whole game."

USU sophomore guard Sam Merrill:
"That's about as bad a loss as you can have. Of our 43 threes, probably 36 of them were open. But we just have to step up and make shots and have to find a way to get stops, and we didn't do that."
