Utah State vs. Idaho
March 17, 2012
Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"I thought that we came out excited to play. We had some energy and at this time of the year that is critical. Obviously, it is easier when you are the home team, but it is not always a guarantee. I was just really pleased with our guys and how they approached the start of the game and basically built us a cushion we had the whole night. We were really aggressive defensively in the first half. We had a lot of deflections, and they were having a hard time scoring and that is what got us a nice halftime lead. We were solid offensively; we shot the ball decently, Brockeith (Pane) had a nice night passing the ball. Idaho has had a real nice season so that is a good win for us."
Sophomore Guard Preston Medlin...
"Coach really emphasized for us to come out with a lot of energy and that is one thing that I think we did. We were hustling out there. We were getting rebounds, and we were making them miss shots because of our energy and that is what coach emphasized. We usually come out pretty close, but tonight we came out more prepared than Idaho did and it was good. We played with a lot of energy tonight, and that was something that we really needed."
Idaho Head Coach Don Verlin...
"It's a very tough place to play; they're very well coached. They haven't won 92 percent of their games here for no reason at all. Like I told our guys afterward, this game needs to be flushed down the toilet. I don't think we need to focus on this game as far as our season goes. We've had the most wins since 1992-93, 37 wins in the last two seasons. I'd have told you that you were crazy if you'd told me that would happen. The thing I think Vandal fans need to appreciate is that this basketball team played with their heart all year long. There were numerous times this season we could have cashed it all in."
