LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State is now 80-29 (.734) all-time in season openers and has won 19 of its last 20 season openers dating back to the 1993-94 campaign. Under head coach Stew Morrill, USU is 15-1 (.937) in season openers, including a 9-0 mark at home.
USU is also 32-1 (.998) since the 1957-58 season when starting the season at home and the Aggies have won 14-straight times when opening at home, with their last loss coming against Weber State, 87-86, on Dec. 7, 1993.
Utah State has won three of the last four all-time meetings with USC, and USU is now 7-8 overall vs. USC, including 1-1 at home, as the only other meeting before Friday was during the 1961-62 season won by the Trojans, 74-72.
While the last current Pac-12 team to play in the Spectrum was Utah in 2010, the Utes were not in the Pac-12 at the time. Prior to Friday, the last Pac-12 team to face the Aggies in Logan was Washington on Dec. 17, 1977, which was also USU's last home win over a Pac-12 team, as the Aggies won 91-85. USU has won 64 of its last 73 games (.877) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum after having its 33-game win streak snapped on Nov. 30, 2011 with a loss to Denver. That 33-game win streak started after a 37-game win streak was halted by Saint Mary's on Dec. 5, 2009. Overall, USU has won 100 of its last 110 home games (.909).
Utah State has won 91.1 percent of its home games (225-22) under head coach Stew Morrill, and the Aggies have won 253 of their last 277 games (.913) in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. USU has registered a 519-115 (.819) all-time record in its 44th year in the facility.
USU has won 85 of its last 87 games (.977) when leading at halftime. Over the last 14 years, USU is 292-25 (.921) when holding a lead at intermission.
With its 78 points Friday, Utah State has won 91 of its last 98 games (.929), when reaching 70 points and is 234-31 (.883) all-time time under head coach Stew Morrill when scoring 70 points in a game.
USU has made at least one three-point basket in 230-straight games and the last time USU did not make a three-pointer in a game was on Dec. 16, 2006 in Provo as BYU defeated the Aggies, 75-62. USU entered that game having made at least one three-pointer in 127 games dating back to Dec. 14, 2002 when BYU held USU without a three-pointer in a 66-56 win in Provo.
All 10 players to see action scored at least two points, including four players in double-digits, led by senior guard Preston Medlin's 17 points, while senior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield and senior center Jarred Shaw scored 12 points apiece. Medlin has scoring in double-figures a total of 45 times in his career... He has made at least one three-pointer in 20 of his last 22 games played, as Medlin netted a game-high four three-pointers, marking his 47th career game with multiple three-pointers.
Medlin now has 987 career points, needing 13 more to becoming the 36th player in USU history to reach the 1,000 career points plateau.
Butterfield notched his fourth-straight career game in double-digits and it was the 20th time of his career.
Shaw scored in double-digits for the 14th-straight game and 27 of his last 32 games... Shaw also posted his seventh career game with multiple blocks with three Friday night, marking the fourth time with three or more rejections.
Junior forward Danny Berger tied a career-high by snaring eight rebounds.
