∙ With the 72-56 win, Utah State is now 83-29 all-time in season openers and have won 22 of its last 23.

∙ The 16-point margin is the largest margin of victory for Utah State in a season opener since the 2008-09 season, when the Aggies posted a 71-50 win over MSU-Northern.

∙ With the victory, Utah State is now 32-28 all-time against UC Irvine.

∙ Utah State led 40-24 at the half. USU is 17-4 under head coach Tim Duryea when leading at the half.

∙ Senior wing Jalen Moore scored 22 points, marking his 14th consecutive game in double figures and 62nd time in his career with double-digit points. Moore has scored 20 or more points 11 times in his career.

∙ Moore has now scored 1,141 in his career and moved to No. 26 all-time in career scoring, passing Bert Cook (1950-52) on the list with 1,133 career points. Moore is just 23 points away from overtaking the next player on the list, his father Jimmy Moore, with 1,164 points. 

∙ Freshman guard Koby McEwen scored 11 points, marking his first game in double figures.

∙ McEwen is the first true freshman to start for the Aggies in a season opener since Steven Thornton did during the 2011-12 season.

∙ Senior guard Shane Rector scored 10 points, marking his third consecutive game in double figures and 15th game in his career.

∙ Sophomore forward Norbert Janicek scored 10 points, marking his first game in double figures.


 

 

∙ Head coach Tim Duryea is the ninth head coach in Utah State history to win the season-opening game in each of his first two season.

∙ Utah State is now 15-2 under head coach Tim Duryea when scoring 70 or more points in a game.

∙ Utah State is undefeated, 11-0, under head caoch Tim Duryea, when holding an opponent to less than 69 points.
