LOGAN, Utah -
Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"Well, that was wild and crazy like they always are. These games are a special thing in the Spectrum. That is an awfully good win for our inexperienced team; we have got to battle. I am pleased that we were able to out-rebound them, their size was certainly a factor. Those were two teams early in the season with lots of turnovers, wedidn't play particularly smart at the end of the game. We were struggling against the zone; there was a lot that went on in that game but we found a way. Some guys stepped up and made some plays and we got out of here with a win, and we will take it."
Is that what you expect out of Brockeith Pane in the second half?
"Yes, you know he expects that from himself. He is as hard on himself as anyone is. Sometimes when you are as good of a player as he is, you can try to do too much, but you have got to pick your spots and get the ball moving. He got down hill a lot; he got in the lane and made some plays. He got to the line, and he and Kyisean Reed came up with a two-man press of their own. BYU has a point guard that isn't really a point and Brockeith got after him a little bit and that was a key part in the game."
"Preston Medlin did some good things, I thought that Morgan Grim was solid, Brady Jardine of course always plays really hard and he rebounds the ball. We got some good experience out of our new players and they got a little taste of the Spectrum and that is good for them."
Senior Guard Brockeith Pane...
"The first half they called a couple calls on me but the guys that came in did a good job. Preston (Medlin) came in and did well andMitch Bruneel came in and did good, it was the whole team. They went on a little run in the second half but we kept battling and guarding them. We want to play each and every day, we come to practice every day ready to play, it's a battle every time we play. It is a battle each and every day."
Brigham Young Head Coach Dave Rose...
On offensive struggles in the second half:
"That was obviously a big point of the game, we got stuck on 42. We missed a couple of shots and we panicked a little bit. We took some shots out of character but we stayed on 42 a little too long. We will learn lessons from this game and we will get better."
On Utah State's homecourt advantage:
"It's good, it is obviously proven by their record. It is a tough place to come in and win, I thought that our guys came in and battled hard, I thought that we put ourselves in a position to win thisgame in the second half and it just kind of got away from us. We fought back and tried to make it a little bit closer but they are good. They are very well-coached team and Brockeith Pane is a very good player."
