Utah State vs Texas Tech Post-Game Quote
Nov. 23, 2016

Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

USU head coach Tim Duryea

“I thought we had a great start. We played well on both ends of the floor and played with a lot of fight and played together. But when the momentum swung at the end of the first half, we missed some shots and that mentality carried over to the defensive end.

“In the second half we wilted defensively because our shots weren’t going in. We did the right thing offensively and made the right plays, but we just didn’t make shots. Sometimes that is going to happen to you, especially on the road.

“It is a great lesson for us to learn, that when you are playing the right way, but shots aren’t going in, you’ve got to get better and tougher on the defensive end. You can’t hang your head or think about the last play and that happened tonight. When the momentum swung their way we could never get it back.

“We did a good job of taking care of the ball in the second half, but we need to develop a tougher mentality defensively.”
