Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"This was exactly what we expected. That's the game we generally have with Weber State. It's knock-down, drag-out, tough to score. I'm just glad we hung in there and found a way to grind one out. That's basically what happened. We made some free throws. They missed some shots; it was a good, physical game. That's a good Weber State team. They're going to be right there in the Big Sky Conference. That league is a lot better than people know, I spent a lot of time there. Randy does a great job. We feel fortunate to win. I was pleased with Ben Clifford coming off the bench. He hadn't gotten very many minutes but got the opportunity and responded. Preston (Medlin) had an awfully good game and Jarred (Shaw) made a big difference. We'll take it on to the road next week."
Sophomore Forward Ben Clifford...
"Yeah, Weber State is good. They are going to be at the top of the league and they were very physical coming in. We knew that coming in, and I thought that we played fairly well tonight, especially down the stretch of the second half when we were able to make the plays to close them out."
Weber State Head Coach Randy Rahe...
"It wasn't a run; I wouldn't say they came and blew us out. We put them on the free throw line is what happened. They made free throws, and we didn't. It wasn't like they just came out and put the pedal to the metal. It became a free throw shooting game, and we missed and they made. That was the difference in the game. You don't want a team to score 80 points on their floor. You want to pressure them and grind them and make things difficult. I'm proud of the way we pressured and got after them. Our game plan worked out really well. We shot 34 percent (field goals) and 23 percent (three-point line). It's a little mind-boggling to me because of the shots we got. I think we're still a little bit nervous offensively."
