Carroll Scores 30 To Lead Utah State To A 69-60 Win At Weber State

OGDEN, Utah - Jaycee Carroll scored a career-high 30 points, including 18 in the second half to lead Utah State to a 69-60 win at Weber State here Saturday night. With the win, the Aggies improved to 4-2, while Weber State dropped to 3-5.
Carroll made 10 of 16 shots, including five three-pointers en route to the highest individual point total for an Aggie in one and one half years. The sophomore scored half of USU's 35 second-half points as the visitors stretched their advantage to 21 points with 4:09 left in the game.
Leading 34-25 at halftime, Utah State pulled away early in the second half. Leading 40-30, Carroll fueled a 12-3 run with three three-pointers in that stretch as USU gained a 52-33 advantage with 10:43 left in the game.
Chaz Spicer was USU's second leading scorer as his 13 points were the only points by the Aggie bench on the night. Nate Harris added 10 rebounds and seven rebounds for the winners. Durrall Peterson pulled down a season high nine rebounds, while scoring six points.
The Aggies, who hit 53.2 percent from the field, converted 12 of 14 free throws and out-rebounded Weber State 35-24. Weber State hit just 38.9 percent of its shots from the field.
Carroll, whose previous scoring high was 28 against UC Santa Barbara last season, also moved into sixth place on the USU career three-point field goals made list. The sophomore from Evanston, Wyo. Now has 98 three-pointers in just 38 career games.
Senior Nate Harris reached a milestone as he scored his 1,000th career point. Harris, who entered with 998 points, scored 10 to register his 1,008th point.
Utah State will take a week off of competition for finals week in school before playing at Hawai'i on Saturday, Dec. 17. After that game, USU will host four straight contests beginning with a rematch with Oral Roberts on Dec. 20.
