Post-Game Notes vs. Life Pacific (12/16/17)

TEAM NOTES
* Utah State improved to 4-0 this season and 30-6 under head coach Tim Duryea when leading at the half as USU had a 40-35 advantage at intermission tonight.
* Utah State improved to 5-1 this season and 24-6 under Duryea when holding its opponent to less than 69 points.
* Utah State scored a season-high 96 points and improved to 5-1 this season and 33-8 under Duryea when scoring at least 70 points. USU also improved to 19-4 under Duryea when scoring at least 80 points.
* Utah State improved to 5-2 this season and 30-11 under Duryea when outrebounding its opponent as USU had a 41-27 advantage on the glass tonight.
* Utah State had a pair of 20-point scorers for the second time in as many games. USU also had five players score in double-figures for the first time this season. In fact, it is just the third time this year that USU has had four players score in double-figures in the same game (vs. Mississippi Valley State, vs. Portland State).
* Utah State shot a season-high 60.0 percent (36-of-60) from the field, marking the fourth time this year that USU has shot at least 50 percent from the field.
* Utah State shot 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from 3-point range, marking the second time this season that USU has shot at least 50 percent from behind the arc.
* Utah State tied its season-high with 13 3-pointers marking the fourth time this season and the 23rd time under Duryea that USU has made at least 10 treys in a game. Those 13 made treys are tied for the third-most in a single-game in school history.
* Utah State had a season-high 23 assists and tied its season-low with 13 fouls. USU is now 5-0 this season and 28-8 under Duryea when recorded at least 15 assists, and 10-0 when having at least 20 assists in a game.
* Utah State’s bench outscored Life Pacific’s bench 26-11 as USU is now 3-5 on the season when outscoring its opponent’s bench.
* Utah State held Life Pacific to just 34.9 percent (22-of-63) shooting from the field, marking the third time this season that USU has held its opponent to under 40 percent shooting. Life Pacific was also just 6-of-9 from the free throw line, which is season-lows for an Aggie opponent in both free throws made and attempted.

 

 

PLAYER NOTES
* Junior forward Dwayne Brown Jr. (25) scored a season-high 24 points for his second double-figure scoring game of the season and his first career 20-point game. Brown Jr. also had seven rebounds for his eighth game this year with at least five boards. He also added two dunks in the game, giving him five on the season.
* Sophomore guard Koby McEwen (1) scored in double-figures for the fourth time this year and 28th time in his career with his 20 points, which is his third 20-point game of the season and the 10th of his career. McEwen also tied his career-high with two steals, and tied his season-high with five assists marking the second time this year and 10th time in his career he has dished out at least five assists in a game. McEwen also tied his season-high with five rebounds, marking the second time this year and 23rd time in his career he has grabbed at least five boards in a game.
* Junior forward Quinn Taylor (10) scored in double-figures in back-to-back games for the second time in his career with his 10 points tonight in a career-high 35 minutes. Overall, it is his second double-figure scoring game of the season and the 10th of his career. Taylor also had a career-high six assists and a season-high two steals, while adding seven rebounds for his fifth game this year and 27th of his career with at least five boards. He also had his third dunk of the season and the 12th of his career.
* Sophomore guard Sam Merrill (3) scored in double-figures for the ninth time this season and 23rd time in his career with his 14 points.
* Senior guard Julion Pearre (5) scored a season-high 12 points for his first double-figure scoring game of the season and the 22nd of his career.
* Junior guard DeAngelo Isby (0) had five rebounds marking the fifth time this year he has grabbed at least five boards in a game.
* Sophomore guard Diogo Brito (24) tied his career-high with seven rebounds marking the third time this year and in his career he has grabbed at least five boards in a game.
