Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"It's nice to keep with the tradition of winning this tournament, playing three-straight nights. I thought we were really good in the first half, and we got ourselves a cushion and coasted from there. It was nice to get lots of guys playing time and great to see Danny Berger play so well. Jalen (Moore) got a lot of minutes. We were able to play everybody and go for Christmas break on a good note. We'll come back afterward and get ready for Mountain West play that is right around the corner. We've got one game after Christmas and then Mountain West play. You always catch your breath on the break and look at what happened in the games before Christmas and these weren't bad. You can always look and say `Well, we should have got this one or we could have got that one,' but last night made the tournament pretty special. I think Troy is a little snake-bit. They were feeling that the first half and came out and played a lot better in the second half. I give them credit. They pressured us, but lost two tough games at the end on free throws and that takes its toll. We did what we needed to do."
Senior Guard/Forward Spencer Butterfield...
"It was obviously not as competitive there at the end, but we have to give a lot of credit to our team. We came out with a little bit more energy than they did in the beginning. By playing defense like we did, we were able to get on it right at the start and just continue it through the game, so that was nice. Spreading the ball wasn't necessarily a point of emphasis, I just think we're a very unselfish team. We're looking for our teammates and looking for the best possible shot on offense.
Junior Forward Danny Berger...
"It was a good game. We were able to play the third night in a row, so it was good. I just tried to be aggressive in the first half and get things close to the basket. Then the shots were falling in the second half. It felt good. We moved the ball really well. We played really good team basketball offensively especially, and defensively. We were helping each other and sharing the ball to shoot it in. It was good to see. It shows how deep we can be. We've talked a lot about our depth, we just have to get our consistency up and make sure we're ready to play every night. You never know what can happen with the guys on the court."
Troy Head Coach Phil Cunningham...
"A very good team, very good crowd, and a very good atmosphere in here. It was a good opportunity for our team to play a team like that, who has been so successful. I just wish we could have come out and played better in that first half. I wish we could have made some shots. We had some open shots, we just couldn't knock them down and it seemed like they couldn't miss anything. They're one of the most efficient offensive teams in the country year-in and year-out and they did it in the first half, so it got away from us a little. I was really encouraged by how we played in that second half. We played six halves here in three games and five out of six halves we really played well.
