Utah State Head Coach Stew Morrill...
"It looked like the typical after-Christmas game to me. You look around our league and around the country, and there are a lot of these type of games being played after four or five days off. You look a little rusty and you're trying to get your wind back, your conditioning back, your timing back. We played a little better in the second half than we did in the first, we guarded much better. If we give nine threes to Air Force, they'll beat us on Wednesday. You can't give up that many threes and we've been pretty good in that area. Looking at the rebounding edge, I haven't seen anything like that in a long time. That indicates that we were playing pretty hard. We'll get better as we get some practice under our belt. We've got to get better in a hurry going into Mountain West play. We need to play defense like our football team does. Holy socks! That was an awesome deal how they defended the other night."
Sophomore Forward Kyle Davis...
"The rebounding is a huge emphasis for me. I think that's how I can best help this team with great shooters. For me, when I rebound, the offense comes. It was definitely a bit uneven when it came to the rebounds."
Junior Center Jordan Stone...
"It feels good. We're coming off Christmas break, and we just needed to come out and get everything back together. We had to break off the rust and play hard. That's what we tried to do. It was a little sketchy at times, but we came back and played hard. The rebounding helped us out a lot. We had to be motivated to come out and get them all and just know that was going to help us score and get the easy baskets. It's what we needed tonight."
San Diego Christian Head Coach Tim Cook...
"Coach Morrill does such an unbelievable job with his team. They are such a steady program; it was a blessing to come in here and compete against them. The tale of the game was the rebounding. You can't get out-rebounded 56-17. It's just unbelievable how hard they hit the glass and how relentless they are on the boards. We did a great job of hitting shots. I really liked the way we executed in different areas, but they just exploited us on the glass. Defensively we need to get a lot better with our communication and make sure that we are stronger in that way. This is all built in for us to play really well at the NAIA level, it's great for us to look at this game and get better."
