LOGAN, Utah - Utah State sophomore guard Koby McEwen has been named the Mountain West Player of the Week. The award is the second conference weekly award for McEwen this season, also earning the honor on Jan. 5.
McEwen (Toronto, Canada) led Utah State to an 89-80 victory over New Mexico behind his second double-double of the season. McEwen finished the game with career highs of 31 points and 13 rebounds, marking the first 30-plus point performance by an Aggie since the 2015-16 season. McEwen also led the team with six assists and three steals, playing the entire 40 minutes. McEwen finished the game shooting 66.7 percent (10-of-15) from the floor, 75.0 percent (6-of-8) from behind the 3-point line and 100.0 percent (5-of-5) at the free throw line.
Along with the Mountain West honors, McEwen was also named the America First Credit Union USU Student Athlete of the Week. With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Utah State continues its Mountain West slate this week, traveling to Wyoming on Wednesday, Feb. 7, and then returning home to host Boise State on Saturday, Feb. 10. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Sophomore guard/forward Hailey Bassett (Layton, Utah) led Utah State in its only game last week as it lost at New Mexico, 80-47. Bassett was the leading scorer for the Aggies, finishing the night with 14 points as she shot 60.0 percent (6-of-10) from the floor and was a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She added two rebounds and one block in the game.
GYMNASTICS – Freshman Autumn DeHarde (Sussex, Wis.) won the floor title last weekend in Utah State’s 196.625-195.150 Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference home loss to 16th-ranked Boise. Against the Broncos, DeHarde recorded a career-high 9.925 on the floor, tied for the 10th-best in school history, helping USU record a season-high 49.075 on the event. DeHarde, who also placed fifth on the beam against BSU with a 9.800, is the first Aggie since 2008 to record a 9.925 on floor.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Sophomore Dylan Barker (Lehi, Utah) placed first in two events at the Boise State-hosted Jackson’s NB Invitational last weekend. The runner won the 800m crown by finishing the race in 1:54.18, before running second on the men’s 4x400m relay team that won the event with a time of 3:19.61. Barker’s 800m time currently ranks 14th in the Mountain West.
WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD – Junior Brenn Flint (Syracuse, Utah) set the school’s indoor shot put record for the third time this season with a first-place throw of 16.30 meters (53-5.75) at the Boise State-hosted Jackson’s NB Invitational last weekend. Flint, who also placed fourth in the weight throw with a mark of 16.05m (52-8.00), is currently ranked first in the Mountain West and 22nd in the nation in the shot put.
MEN’S TENNIS – Junior Samuel Serrano (Cartegena, Colombia) posted a combined 2-0 mark in singles and doubles last weekend to help Utah State defeat Mountain West-rival Boise State at home, 4-0. Serrano and freshman Valdemar Holm clinched the doubles point for the Aggies with a 6-4 win at the No. 2 spot. Serrano then won his singles match at the No. 3 spot in straight sets (6-3, 6-2).
WOMEN’S TENNIS – Freshman Sasha Pisareva (Kyiv, Ukraine) posted a combined 6-2 mark in singles and doubles last weekend to help Utah State to a 2-2 record in East Lansing, Mich., as the Aggies defeated Detroit Mercy (4-0), lost to Michigan State (6-1), lost to Akron (5-2) and defeated Oakland (6-1). Pisareva was a perfect 4-0 in singles at the No. 1 spot, including twice posting the Aggies’ only singles win. Pisareva won in straight sets against Detroit Mercy (6-1, 6-3), posted the Aggies’ only win against Michigan State (5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5)), recorded the only singles win for USU after dropping just two games against Akron (6-1, 6-1), and won against Oakland (6-2, 6-1). Pisareva and senior Maggie O’Meara also won two doubles matches at the No. 1 spot with a 6-2 win against Akron and a 6-4 win against Oakland.
