LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball player Jaycee Carroll has been named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday.

It is the third time this year and sixth time in his career Carroll has been named WAC Player of the Week and he is now tied with Greg Grant for the most player of the week honors in school history. Grant won six Big West Conference Player of the Week honors during his Aggie career which ran from 1983-86.

Overall, it is the eighth time that a Utah State player has received the weekly honor from the league office in the past three years.

Carroll, a 6-2 All-American guard from Evanston, Wyo., (Evanston HS) led Utah State to a 2-0 record last weekend with a 77-72 win at Fresno State and a 78-73 win against San Jose State. Against the Bulldogs, Carroll scored 22 points to go along with nine rebounds and two assists. Against the Spartans, he recorded his second double-double of the season and seventh of his career with 26 points and 11 rebounds to go along with two steals.

For the week, Carroll averaged 24.0 points and 10.0 rebounds and shot 50.0 percent from the field (16-32), 53.3 percent from three-point range (8-15) and 88.9 percent from the free throw line (8-9).

On the season, Carroll is averaging 21.5 points and 6.2 rebounds and is shooting 52.6 percent from the field, 50.7 percent from three-point range and 92.0 percent from the free throw line. Thus far this year, he has scored in double-figures in all 24 Utah State games, and has 15 20-point games and three 30-point games. Overall, he ranks first in the WAC in scoring and free throw shooting, is second in three-point shooting, and ninth in overall shooting and rebounding. Nationally, he ranks fifth in both free throw shooting and three-point shooting, and is 15th in scoring.

Utah State is 18-6 on the season and in first-place in the WAC with an 8-1 league record. Overall, USU has won three straight games and 13 of its last 14 after starting the season with a 5-5 record. The Aggies return to action this week with a pair of road games at Nevada on Monday, Feb. 11 beginning at 8 p.m. (MT), and at Hawai'i on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. (MT).
