LOGAN, Utah - Senior forward Shawn Daniels (Bakersfield, Calif.) was named the Big West Conference player of the week after leading Utah State to a pair of home wins over UC Irvine and Cal State Fullerton this past weekend. It is the first time this year and the second time in his career that Daniels has been named the league's player of the week.

Against UC Irvine, Daniels scored a game-high 18 points on nine-of-10 shooting to go along with eight rebounds, one block and one steal as the Aggies posted a 15-point win. Two nights later, Daniels continued his hot shooting, going six-of-seven from the field and scored a team-high 16 points in the Aggies 12 point win over CS Fullerton. He also had six rebounds, three blocks and three steals against the Titans. For the week, Daniels averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals and shot a blistering 88 percent (15-of-17) from the field.

It is the third time this year that Utah State has had a player of the week in the Big West as Tony Brown won the award on Nov. 20, and Curtis Bobb received the honor on Jan. 15.

On the season, Daniels leads Utah State in scoring (12.4), rebounding (6.3), field-goal percentage (63.6), and blocks (42). In league games, Daniels is averaging 13.1 points and shooting 69 percent from the field.

Utah State is off to a school-best 21-3 record thus far this season, including a 10-1 record in league play. The Aggies travel to UC Santa Barbara and Long Beach State this weekend.
