LOGAN, Utah - Two prolific scorers, Greg Grant and Brian Jackson have become the 12th and 13th players named to the Utah State all-century basketball team and will be recognized at Thursday's home game against Long Beach State. The team was voted on by Aggie fans, media, and administration.
Grant is the school's all-time leading scorer as well as one of the most decorated players in Utah State basketball history while playing from 1983-86. The 6-7 forward from Salt Lake City, became one of the best players in Big West Conference history as well, as he is the second-leading career scorer and third-leading career rebounder in the league.
He was the Big West player of the year in 1986, while earning first-team all-league honors twice and second-team all-conference honors two other times. He was the league's freshman of the year as well.
He stands as the school's all-time leading scorer with 2,127 points and is the USU all-time steals leader as well with 226. He also ranks second in rebounding with 1,003. After his incredible college career, he was drafted by Detroit in the sixth round of the 1986 NBA draft.
Jackson was considered one of the nation's purest shooting big men during his Aggie career from 1979-81. The 6-8 forward from Palos Verdes, Calif. averaged 23.4 points and 8.9 rebounds as a senior and is the third-leading scorer in school history with 1,903 points.
Jackson was a first-team all-Big West selection in 1981 and was a two-time second-team pick as well. His 90 double-figure scoring games are the most in USU history and he recorded 30 double-figure rebounding games to boot.
After his USU career, he was drafted by Portland in the second round of the 1981 NBA draft.
Three final selections will be announced at Saturday's game against UC Irvine. Players named to the team, that are available, will be on hand for that game and will hold an autograph session after the game.
