LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's Jaycee Carroll is having a fabulous senior campaign and is in the midst of perhaps the best all-around single-season shooting year in NCAA history.

Carroll, who earned honorable mention All-American honors from the Associated Press following his junior season, is currently the only player at the NCAA Division I level who is shooting better than 50 percent from both the field and three-point range, and better than 90 percent from the free throw line. Through 28 games this year, Carroll is shooting 52.4 percent from the field (209-399), 51.4 percent from three-point range (91-177) and 91.5 percent from the free throw line (108-118).

Dating back to the 1986-87 season when the NCAA officially began using the three-point line, the only other player at the Division I level who has shot better than 50 percent from both the field and three-point range, and better than 90 percent from the free throw line was Arizona's Salim Stoudamire. During Stoudamire's senior season of 2004-05, he shot 50.4 percent from the field (210-417), 50.4 percent from three-point range (120-238), and 91.0 percent from the free throw line (122-134).

Carroll, a 6-2 senior guard from Evanston, Wyo., (Evanston HS) currently ranks first in the nation in three-point shooting, is fifth in free throw shooting and 12th in scoring (22.0), all of which leads the Western Athletic Conference. Carroll also ranks 10th in the WAC in overall shooting and is 10th in the league in rebounding with 6.2 boards per game.

All-time, Carroll ranks third in the history of the NCAA in three-point shooting at 46.7 percent (346-741) and is tied for 22nd all-time in NCAA history with his 346 made three-pointers.

At Utah State, Carroll is the school's all-time scoring leader with 2,354 points. He also holds school records for three-pointers made (346), three-pointers attempted (741), three-point shooting (.467), games played (127), games started (125), minutes played (4,325), field goals attempted (1,612) and double-figure scoring games (114).

All this from a player who was offered a total of one Division I scholarships (Utah State) coming out of high school.
