Aggie Men Top Seed For 2008 WAC Tournament

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's basketball team will be the top seed in next week's 2008 Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Cruces, N.M., and play either eighth-seeded San Jose State (12-18) or ninth-seeded Louisiana Tech (6-23) at 2:30 p.m. (MT) on Thursday, Mar. 13. SJSU and LTU will meet in the play-in game on Tuesday, Mar. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Utah State is 23-9 on the season and finished WAC play with a 12-4 record following its 78-58 road win at Idaho Saturday night. USU tied Boise State, New Mexico State and Nevada for first-place in the conference. The Aggies received the top seed in the WAC do to its 4-2 record against BSU, NMSU and UN.
Utah State swept its season series with Louisiana Tech with a 71-61 win in Ruston and an 86-59 win in Logan. USU leads the all-time series with the Bulldogs, 6-1. Utah State split its season series with San Jose State as it recorded a 78-73 win in Logan and lost at San Jose, 70-67. All-time, USU is 39-21 against the Spartans which includes a 3-4 record in postseason play.
