LOGAN, Utah -
Junior Guard/Forward Spencer Butterfield
On what it means to him to earn second-team all-WAC honors and being named to the WAC all-newcomer team:
"I feel honored. Honestly I feel blessed, but I definitely couldn't have done it without the team. It's an honor. I appreciate it. Honestly I care more about the WAC Tournament right now. It's a nice accolade and I appreciate it, but I'm not really that into I guess. I can't really put it into words. I'm not super stoked about it, I'm more worried about winning the WAC Tournament right now."
On Jarred Shaw making second-team as well:
"I think it's awesome. He definitely deserves it. He's played awesome for us. It's very well-deserved."
On being WAC Player of the Week as well:
"That was really cool. I felt honored for that and it's great to receive that award, but like I said, I'm just focused on the WAC Tournament right now."
Junior Center Jarred Shaw
On thoughts and feelings about earning second-team all-WAC honors and being named to the WAC all-newcomer team:
"I feel pretty good about it. I'm excited that I got it, but I couldn't do it without my teammates. I'm happy that I got it and hope we can keep rolling going into the WAC Tournament."
On Spencer Butterfield earning the same honors:
"I'm so excited for Spencer. Everything he's been through with his hip and everything, just to see how hard he fought through it all and kept playing. I'm happy for him. He has helped us in a big way, I'm proud of him."
On living up to the preseason expectations, including preseason WAC Player of the Year:
"I just set some goals for myself. I take it one day at a time the whole time and try not to worry too much. That kind of worked out for me."
On slowing down WAC Player of the Year, Idaho's Kyle Barone:
"Kyle's a pretty good player. He can score every way. We just took pride in our defense when we played them, we knew he was supposed to be the Player of the Year, so I just took pride in playing defense and helping my team win."
On his consistent high rebounding:
"You've got to rebound. That's just one thing Coach Morrill stressed to us at the beginning of the year, making it one of our keys to winning games. We took pride in that and worked hard every day in rebounding and that has just carried over to the games."
