LOGAN, Utah - Utah State's men's basketball team will play San Jose State in the first round of the 2008 Western Athletic Conference postseason tournament on Thursday, Mar. 13 at 2:30 p.m. in Las Cruces, N.M. USU (23-9, 12-4) is the top seed in the tournament and SJSU (13-18, 4-12) is the eighth-seed.

San Jose State advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Louisiana Tech, 64-62, Tuesday night in the eight vs. nine play-in game. The win for the Spartans snapped a five-game losing streak and SJSU is the last team to defeat Utah State.

Utah State is 39-21 all-time against San Jose State, which includes a 3-4 record in postseason play. The two teams split its season series this year as USU notched a 78-73 win in Logan and SJSU recorded a 70-67 win in San Jose. The last time the two teams played in the postseason was in the quarterfinals of the 2006 WAC Tournament in Reno, Nev., as the Aggies won, 76-69. Overall, it will be the seventh time the two teams have met in quarterfinal action with each club winning three times.

Utah State is 30-23 (.566) all-time in conference tournament's, which includes a 4-2 (.667) record in the WAC's postseason tournament as the Aggies have advanced to the championship game in each of its first two years in the league. Overall, USU has played in its conference's tournament championship game seven times in the last eight years and has a 17-4 (.810) tournament record during that time period.
