LOGAN, Utah - The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Tuesday the NABC Division I All-District teams for 2010 and Utah State's Jared Quayle and Tai Wesley were both named to the District 6 second team.

In all, 240 student-athletes from 24 districts were honored, and all are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, to be announced on Saturday, April 3.

Quayle, a 6-1, 180-pound senior guard from Perry, Utah (Box Elder HS/Western Wyoming CC) ranks first in the WAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.55), third in free throw shooting (.901), fourth in three-point shooting (.439), fifth in assists (4.21), 10th in steals (1.12), 11th in rebounding (6.3) and 15th in scoring (12.5).

Wesley, a 6-7, 240-pound junior forward from Provo, Utah (Provo HS) ranks fourth in the WAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.93), fifth in field goal shooting (.571), sixth in blocked shots (1.29), 10th in rebounding (6.6), 11th in assists (3.35), 13th in scoring (13.6) and 15th in free throw shooting (.706).

Players named to the District 6 first team include Luke Babbitt (Nevada), Kyle Gibson (Louisiana Tech), Armon Johnson (Nevada), Adrian Oliver (San Jose State) and Jahmar Young (New Mexico State). Joining Quayle and Wesley on the second team were Anthony Johnson (Montana), Damian Lillard (Weber State) and Magnum Rolle (Louisiana Tech).

Quayle and Wesley were both named first-team all-WAC this year and both were also named to the WAC's all-tournament team. Both players were also named first-team all-WAC by Sporting News, while Quayle was named the Most Valuable Player of the WAC by NetScouts Basketball and Wesley was named to the first team. Quayle also earned all-district honors from the United States Basketball Writers Association this year.

 

 

Utah State is the 12th-seed in the South Region of the NCAA Tournament and will play fifth-seeded Texas A&M (23-9) at Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane, Wash., on Friday, March 19 at approximately 2:45 p.m. (MT).
