Utah State Signs Junior College Post Player

April 20, 2011

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball coach Stew Morrill announced Wednesday that Igor Premasunac (prem-uh-sue-niche) has signed a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Aggies beginning in the 2011-12 season.

Premasunac, a 6-9, 240-pound forward from Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas, earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a sophomore as he averaged 9.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 51.9 percent from the field (107-206) and 51.6 percent from three-point range (16-31).

"Igor will give us a big body inside and a low post scoring presence," said Morrill. "He plays hard and wants to continue his growth as a player. We are confident he will be a valuable addition to our program."

Prior to Lon Morris JC, Premasunac played his freshman season at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, Fla., where he averaged 4.9 points and 4.3 rebounds, while shooting 51.9 percent from the field (56-108) and 71.4 percent at the free throw line (15-21).

"Igor is a big guy that can score with either hand," said Dale Dotson, Lon Morris Junior College head coach. "He is a very skilled player that can shoot and pass the ball, and I think he will fit in well with what Utah State likes to do."

Premasunac is originally from Zagreb, Croatia and prepped at the School of Economics.

Morrill also announced Wednesday that freshman guard James Walker III (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) will not return to the program. As a freshman, Walker III played in 25 games with one start and averaged 2.1 points, 1.2 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 9.6 minutes per game. He shot 34.0 percent from the field (16-47), 26.9 percent from three-point range (7-26) and 65.0 percent at the free throw line (13-20).
