July 29, 2016

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men’s basketball announced plans to play BYU through 2021, with the series continuing to be a home-and-home, mingled with a game at Vivint Smart Homes Arena in Salt Lake City.

“We are excited to continue our long standing rivalry with BYU,” head coach Tim Duryea said. “Coach (Dave) Rose and his staff have always understood the significance of the game between our institutions.

“We are pleased to continue this series on a home-and-home basis,” he continued. “Annually, it is a highlight for our players, coaches, fans and students, and a game that both institutions look forward to.”

The teams will meet this coming season in Salt Lake City on Nov. 30, and then resume home-and-home games with the Cougars visiting Logan in 2017, followed by a road game for the Aggies in Provo in 2018. The teams will then meet in the Beehive Classic at Vivint Smart Homes Arena in 2019, followed by a game in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum in 2020 and a contest in the Marriott Center in 2021.

Utah State and BYU have the longest rivalry in USU men’s basketball history, facing off 232 times since the 1905-06 season. USU trails the all-time series 92-140.
