LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men’s and women’s basketball will provide a sneak peek of the season to come, when the teams host Primetime Madness on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m., in the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The night will feature scrimmages by both teams with a halftime skills competition, pairing players from both teams for various drills.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will be sponsored by Maceys. Spectrum doors are set to open at 6 p.m., with activities and free giveaways on the concourse.

The USU Spirit Squad will open the night with a performance, followed by the introductions of both basketball teams.

Following team intros, both teams will play an 20-minute scrimmage with a running clock, played in two halves. In between the halves, both teams will have a 3-point shooting contest, featuring two players from each program. Action will then continue with the second half of each team's scrimmage. The contests will conclude with the HURD Shooting Stars contest. Four teams will be comprised of a men's player, a women's player and a member of the HURD, Utah State's student section. The four teams will play two rounds with the winning student receiving a gift card to the USU Campus Store. The night will conclude with autograph sessions for fans with both teams.

The Utah State women return two starters from last year's lineup in sophomore guards Rachel Brewster and Katie Toole. Joining them are six other letterwinners, three of whom started multiple games last year. The Aggies also welcome six freshmen to the roster this season. The 2015-16 team finished with an overall record of 14-17, going 8-10 in Mountain West play.

The Aggie men return three of last year's starters in senior wing Jalen Moore, junior guard Julion Pearre and senior guard Shane Rector. Joining them is one additional letterwinner, a returning redshirt and 10 newcomers. Last season, USU posted a 16-15 record, including a 7-11 league ledger.
