LOGAN, Utah - Utah State senior wing Jalen Moore has been named to the Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award watch list, as announced by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on Wednesday. Moore is one of only 20 small forwards in the nation on the watch list that was determined by a national committee comprised of top college basketball personnel.

Moore has been all-Mountain West each of the past two seasons, earning second-team honors as a sophomore and third-team honors last season. Moore has led the Aggies in scoring and rebounding in each of the past two seasons, averaging 15.2 points and 6.0 rebounds as a junior, and 15.2 points and 6.7 rebounds as a sophomore, and could become just the third player in Utah State history to lead the team in scoring and rebounding for three years, joining Greg Grant (1982-84, 1985-86) and Marvin Roberts (1968-71).

Moore enters the season with 1,119 career points, No. 27 all-time, and 54 blocks, No. 14 all-time in Utah State history. Moore is on pace to finish among the career records in rebounds, assists, field goal attempts, 3-point field goals made and attempted, 10-point games, games played, games started and total minutes played in the Utah State record books.

Moore is the only athlete in the Mountain West on the initial watch list and one of only three from the western United States, joining Oregon junior forward Dillon Brooks and Oregon State sophomore forward Tres Tinkle.

By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2017 Julius Erving Small Forward of the Year Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Erving and the Hall of Fame’s selection committee.  The winner of the 2017 Julius Erving Award will be presented at the ESPN College Basketball Awards in Los Angeles, Calif., on Friday, April 7, 2017.

Utah State will host a lone exhibition game against Southern Virginia on Friday, Nov. 4, before opening the 2016-17 season at UC Irvine on Friday, Nov. 11. The Aggies will host their home opener against NJIT on Monday, Nov. 14, as part of 16 regular season home games for Utah State during the 2016-17 season.
