Utah State Men's Basketball Holds First Public Scrimmage Wednesday

LOGAN, Utah - Two days prior to its first exhibition game, Utah State's men's basketball team held its first public outing of the 2011-12 season with its annual Blue-White Scrimmage Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. Veteran head coach Stew Morrill ran his team through two 10-minute sessions in front of approximately 3,000 fans as all 17 players that dressed saw action.
Redshirt freshman forward Ben Clifford (South Jordan, Utah) was the top scorer and rebounder on the night as he finished with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting to go along with six boards. Senior forward Brady Jardine (Twin Falls, Idaho) added six points, four rebounds and two blocked shots, while senior point guard Brockeith Pane (Dallas, Texas) had six points and three assists.
As a team, Utah State shot 36.2 percent from the field (21-58), 30.8 percent from three-point range (4-13) and 85.7 percent at the free throw line (6-7). The teams also combined for 15 assists, seven turnovers, five blocked shots and two steals.
Next up for Utah State will be its first exhibition game of the season on Friday, Oct. 28 against UC San Diego at 7 p.m.
