Utah State men’s basketball will host its lone exhibition game this season, when the Aggies face the University of Providence (formerly Great Falls) on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m., inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Utah State Rolls To 84-51 Victory Over Great Falls
LOGAN, Utah -- Senior guard Shane Rector scored 16 points in 21 minutes and sophomore forward Norbert Janicek chipped in 14 points and six re bounds as the Utah State men's basketball team rolled to an 84-51 victory over Great Falls on Tuesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Opening Takes

• Utah State faced the Argos last season during the regular season, posting an 84-51 victory. Departed senior Shane Rector led the Aggies in scoring with 16 points, and was followed now-junior Norbert Janicek with 14 and departed senior Jalen Moore with 13.

• Utah State has won 16 of its last 17 exhibition games, dating back to the 2008-09 season.

• All tickets for the game will be available for purchase for just $5.

Scouting the University of Providence

The University of Providence, formerly Great Falls, is an NAIA institution located in Great Falls, Mont., playing in the Frontier Conference. The Argos have already played three games this season and are 2-1 on the year.

Offensively, UP is averaging 81.0 points per game, shooting 42.0 percent (86-of-205) from the floor, 34.8 percent (24-of-69) from behind the 3-point line and 67.2 percent (45-of-67) at the free throw line. Individually, the Argos are led by five players that score in double figures in Deontae Woodbridge (13.0 ppg), Steven Daho-Clark (12.0 ppg), Matthew Brooks-McGregor (11.3 ppg), Jared Schultz (10.7 ppg) and Sergio Berkley (10.3 ppg). Woodbridge also leads UP on the glass, averaging 8.0 rebounds per game.


 

 

Defensively, teams are averaging 76.7 points per game against Providence, and shooting 47.5 percent (84-of-177) from the floor, 47.3 percent (26-of-55) from behind the 3-point line and 72.0 percent (36-of-50) at the free throw line. Treyvon Bashir and DuShaun Rice have each recorded two blocks over the first three games to lead the Argos in rejections, and D’shea Williams leads the team with four steals.

Head coach Anthony Owens is in his fourth year at the helm of the Argos, having been an assistant at Portland State the previous five years.
