LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball player Preston Medlin has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 11, an award that is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
Medlin, a native of Carrollton, Texas (Hebron HS), led USU to a season-opening, 56-48, win over Idaho State on Nov. 10 with a team-high 14 points. The junior guard finished the night shooting 5-of-7 from the field, 2-of-3 from three-point range and 2-for-2 at the free throw line, adding five rebounds, three assists and one blocked shot.
This is Medlin's fifth career USU honor, earning the award four times last season.
After the first week of the season, Medlin ranks tied for fifth in the Western Athletic Conference in three-point field goal percentage and tied for eighth in three-pointers made (2.0), as well as tied for third in assist/turnover ratio (3.0), tied for sixth in minutes played (36.0), tied for seventh in both assists (3.0) and blocked shots (1.0) and eighth in field goal percentage (.714, 5-of-7).
Utah State men's basketball will continue its four-game homestand to start the season by hosting West Coast Conference member Saint Mary's on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., in a game that will be televised regionally on KMYU TV.
The Stew Morrill Radio Show will make its season-debut on Monday, Nov. 12 at 6:05 p.m. on KVNU 610 AM, airing from Quizno's.
In addition to season tickets being on sale, the Utah State Athletics Ticket Office has five different ticket packages for fans that want to watch men's basketball games this season but are unable to attend every game. Fans can choose from a West Coast Package, Saturday Package, Aggie Football/Basketball Doubleheader Package, Gossner Tournament Package and a WAC Package.
To order a package or for more information, fans can contact the USU Athletics Ticket Office over the phone by calling 1-888-USTATE-1 or 435-797-0305 during regular hours of operation. Fans can also buy their tickets in person at the USU Ticket Office inside the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum or online by clicking on the "Buy Tickets" tab at www.UtahStateAggies.com.
Utah State men's basketball season tickets for the 2012-13 season are also on sale at the USU Ticket Office. Ticket prices are $230 in non-priority areas and $220 in priority areas, which have Big Blue Scholarship Fund per seat commitment fees apply, ranging from $100-$900 per seat in addition to ticket cost.
Family Plans are also available for purchase at $800 (two adults and three Jr Aggies). Please be aware that there is a limit of one Family Plan per household.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Junior Kyle McKenna (Farmington, Idaho) placed 26th at the NCAA Mountain Region Championship held this past weekend in Fort Collins, Colo., with a time of 30:53.1 in the 10-kilometer race. Overall, USU finished in 14th-place in the 18-team field.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY - Senior Alex Litzsinger (Pocatello, Idaho) placed 19th at the NCAA Mountain Region Championship held this past weekend in Fort Collins, Colo., with a time of 21:08.4 in the six-kilometer race. Overall, USU finished in 10th-place in the 20-team field.
SOCCER - Junior defender Jackie Tillotson (Sandy, Utah) scored Utah State's lone goal in its 2-1 loss at No. 2 BYU in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Tillotson's goal came in the 46th minute to cut BYU's lead in half.
VOLLEYBALL - Senior opposite side hitter Shay Sorensen (North Ogden, Utah) posted a team-high 12 kills to go with seven digs and two block assists in Utah State's 3-0 loss at San Jose State last weekend. Even with the loss, USU clinched its first-ever WAC regular-season title.
