USU Men's Basketball Continues To Rank Among Top 25 In NCAA In Several Different Statistical Categories

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball continues to rank among the top 25 in the NCAA statistics in six different categories, as the NCAA statistics were released Monday.
USU is 16th in the country in both free throw percentage (.761) and assists per game (17.0), in addition to ranking 20th in three-point field goal percentage defense (.269). The Aggies also are 23rd in rebounding margin (+8.4), 24th in assist-turnover ratio (1.49) and 25th in fewest fouls (125 total/17.9 per game). Utah State is also 27th in three-point field goal percentage (.408), 32nd in fewest turnovers (80 total/11.4 per game) and 47th in field goal percentage (.486).
Individually, senior guard Preston Medlin is 27th in the nation in assist-turnover ratio (3.44), while sophomore guard Marcel Davis is 46th in assist-turnover ratio (3.00). Senior center Jarred Shaw is 82nd in free throw percentage (.871), while ranking 91st in double-doubles with two.
Utah State leads the Mountain West Conference statistics in free throw percentage (.761), three-point field goal percentage defense (.269), assists (17.0) and assist-turnover ratio (1.49). The Aggies are third in the league in both field goal percentage (.486) and three-point field goal percentage (.408), as well as third in rebounding margin (+8.4). USU is also fifth in scoring (77.9), scoring defense (69.7) and scoring margin (+8.1), while ranking sixth in both rebounds (38.0) and blocks (3.4). Additionally, the Aggies are eighth in field goal percentage defense (.438) and 11th in steals (3.0.).
Individually, Shaw leads the conference in free throw percentage (.871), while ranking sixth in blocks (1.4), ninth in rebounds (7.9) and 12th in scoring (15.9). Medlin is second in the league in assist-turnover ratio (3.44), third in assists (4.4), tied for seventh in three-point field goals made (2.3) and 18th in scoring (13.4).
Sophomore forward Kyle Davis is second in the conference in field goal percentage (.676), while also ranking ninth in blocked shots (1.2) and 11th in rebounding (7.0). Senior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield is tied with Medlin for seventh in three-point field goals made (2.3), in addition to eighth in three-point field goal percentage (.457) and 14th in both scoring (14.3) and rebounding (6.1). Sophomore guard Marcel Davis is fourth in assist-turnover ratio (3.00) and tied for 10th in assists (3.00).
Utah State (5-2, 0-0 MW) men's basketball will continue its season-long six-game homestand by hosting in-state foe Utah Valley (3-5, 0-0 WAC) on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Beehive State battle between the Aggies and Wolverines is slated for 7 p.m. (MT) at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum (10,270). Saturday will be UVU's second game in a row against an in-state foe, as the Wolverines host Weber State on Wednesday, Dec. 11.
Saturday's USU-UVU will not be televised but will aired on the radio and audio streamed online on the Aggie Sports Network, as well as video streamed online through on USU's website, www.UtahStateAggies.com. USU men's basketball single-game, multi-game and season tickets are on sale. All single-game tickets will go on sale two weeks prior to each game. Single-game tickets will cost $18 for non-priority and $20 for priority, as well as $25 for premium game against UNLV (Feb. 15).
