Aggie Men's Hoops Remains Highly Ranked In NCAA Statistics

LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball remains highly ranked in the NCAA statistics, as the Aggies are in the top 25 in four different categories, as the NCAA statistics were released Monday.

USU is 11th in the nation in assists per game (17.8), as well as 14th in rebounding margin (+9.6), 16th in assist-turnover ratio (1.58) and 21st in three-point field goal defense (.270). The Aggies are also 26th in free throw percentage (.751), 30th in three-point field goal percentage (.401) and 41st in field goal percentage (.486).

Individually, senior guard Preston Medlin is eighth in the nation in assist-turnover ratio (4.00). Medlin also is 34th in three-point field goal percentage (.467) and 69th in three-point field goals made per game (2.63).

Senior center Jarred Shaw is 66th in free throw percentage (.871) and 92nd in field goal percentage (.543).

USU leads the Mountain West Conference in rebound margin (+9.6), assists (17.8) and three-point field goal percentage defense (.270). The Aggies are second in the league in free throw percentage (.751), field goal percentage (.486), three-point field goal percentage (.401) and assist-turnover ratio (1.6). USU is also fourth in scoring (77.0), scoring defense (68.5) and scoring margin (+8.5), as well as fifth in rebounding (38.1) and blocks (3.6), along with seventh in field goal percentage defense (.435) and 11th in steals (2.9).

Individually, Medlin is first in the conference in assist-turnover ratio (4.00), second in assists (4.5), fourth in three-point field goal percentage (.467), fifth in three-point field goals made (2.6), 10th in minutes (32.4) and 16th in scoring (14.0).

Shaw is first in the league in free throw percentage (.871), second in field goal percentage (.543), fifth in blocks (1.4), ninth in rebounds (7.8) and 12th in scoring (16.1).

 

 

Senior guard/forward Spencer Butterfield is fifth in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.459), ninth in three-point field goals made (2.1), 13th in rebounds (6.1) and 18th in scoring (13.1).

Sophomore forward Kyle Davis is ninth in blocks (1.3) and tied for 10th in rebounds (7.0).

Utah State is 6-2 on the season and will play three games in three days in hosting the Basketball Travelers, Inc., Classic, sponsored by Gossner Foods. USU will host the three-day, six-game classic-format tournament at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum (10,270), and will open action against Western Illinois on Thursday, Dec. 20. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. (MT), following the UC Santa Barbara-Troy game at 5:30 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 20, Western Illinois and Troy will tangle at 5:30 p.m. before USU faces off with UC Santa Barbara at 8 p.m. The Classic concludes on Saturday, Dec. 21 with Western Illinois and UC Santa Barbara squaring off at 5:30 p.m. before the Aggies tangle with Troy at 8 p.m.

All of the BTI Classic games will not be televised, but the USU games will be aired on the radio and audio streamed online on the Aggie Sports Network, as well as video streamed online through on USU's website, www.UtahStateAggies.com. USU men's basketball single-game, multi-game and season tickets are on sale. All single-game tickets will go on sale two weeks prior to each game. Single-game tickets will cost $18 for non-priority and $20 for priority, as well as $25 for premium game against UNLV (Feb. 15).
