UC Santa Barbara Defeats Western Illinois In Fifth Game of Utah State Hosted Basketball Travelers Classic, 61-55

UC Santa Barbara finishes the tournament with a 2-1 record, while Western Illinois went 1-2 during the three-day event.
Michael Bryson added 11 points for UC Santa Barbara as the Gauchos shot 35.8 percent overall (19-53), including 17.6 percent from three-point range (3-17) and 71.4 percent at the free throw line (20-28).
Jabari Sandifer had 13 points for Western Illinois as the Fighting Leathernecks had two other players score in double figures. WIU finished the game shooting 41.7 percent (20-48), including 41.2 percent from three-point range (7-17), but just 42.1 percent at the free throw line (8-19).
Western Illinois had the early advantage in the game leading by as many as six points at 14-8 and later by five at 18-13 before UC Santa Barbara scored six straight points to take a 19-18 advantage. WIU then went on a 10-3 run to lead 28-22 with just under a minute to play in the half and went into the locker room with a 29-24 lead.
Trailing 31-27 early in the second half, UC Santa Barbara used a 9-0 run to turn a four-point deficit into a five-point lead at 36-31 with 14:40 to play. WIU then went on a 10-1 run to regain the lead at 41-37 with 11:20 remaining. UCSB answered with a 10-2 run to go ahead 47-43 and never trailed again en route to its six-point win.
