LOGAN, Utah - Utah State junior guard DeAngelo Isby has been named the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Dec. 24, it was announced Tuesday. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
The award is the first for Isby this season.
With their sponsorship of the Student-Athlete of the Week, America First Credit Union donates funds directly to support student-athlete scholarships.
Isby (Chicago, Ill.) scored a career-high 26 points, the most points by an Aggie this season, in Utah State’s 91-74 home win against Youngstown State last week. Isby shot 69.2 percent (9-of-13) from the floor, 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from behind the 3-point line and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) at the free throw line, while adding three rebounds and one assist in 32 minutes.
Utah State will open conference play this week, hosting San José State on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at 7 p.m., before traveling to San Diego State on Saturday, Dec. 30, for its Mountain West road opener.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL – Sophomore guard/forward Hailey Bassett (Layton, Utah) led Utah State in its 79-44 home loss to Utah last week. Bassett was one of two players to score in double-figures, tallying 13 points as she played a career-high 34 minutes. Bassett also added five rebounds, one assist and two blocks in the game. Against the Utes, Bassett shot 55.5 percent (5-of-9) from the floor and went 3-of-4 (75.0 percent) at the free throw line.
