LOGAN, Utah - Utah State men's basketball player Tai Wesley has been tabbed the America First Credit Union Utah State Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending on Sunday, Dec. 28. The award is voted on by a state-wide media panel.
Wesley, a sophomore forward from Provo, Utah, scored 18 points, including the game-winning basket with 0.1 seconds remaining to propel Utah State to a 66-64 win against in-state rival Utah. Wesley, who had 17 second-half points, scored the final four points for the Aggies following a pair of offensive rebounds. Wesley finished the game shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line. He added four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal in the contest.
This is the first Utah State Athlete of the Week honor this season for Wesley but the third for his career after earning the accolade twice last year (Dec. 17 and Jan. 7).
Wesley and the Aggies blasted Howard, 85-45, Monday night in the Duel in the Desert, sponsored by Gossner Foods and will take on Houston Baptist on Tuesday at 8 p.m., after Howard faces Wyoming at 5:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Howard meets Houston Baptist at 5:30 p.m. followed by Utah State clashing with Wyoming at 8 p.m.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL - Senior guard Danyelle Snelgro (Altadena, Calif.) scored a career-high 19 points in Utah State's 44-41 road win against Weber State on Dec. 22. Snelgro played 40 minutes as the Aggies recorded their second road win of the season. Overall, Snelgro shot 8-of-12 from the field and 2-of-3 from behind the arc, to go along with five rebounds, one block and one steal.
