Utah State Football Starts Fall Camp Friday, Aug. 5

Fourth-year head coach Matt Wells welcomes back 12 starters (O-9, D-3) and 38 letterwinners (O-20, D-15, S-3) from last year's team that finished tied for second in the Mountain Division of the Mountain West with a 5-3 record, and played in its school-record fifth-straight bowl game.

HONORS: Academic All-Mountain West (2015, 2016).

RECORDS: Punted 13 times for 463 yards (35.6 ypp) in his first career game against Southern Utah (9/3/15), as those 13 punts are the second-most in both Utah State and Mountain West history, and a freshman record in both school and conference history.

UTAH STATE: Has a big leg and punts the ball with great hang time and distance... Is also very good at directional punting... Has all the tools to be a high-caliber Mountain West punter.

2016 (SO): Punted in all 12 games and finished the season averaging 37.9 yards per punt… Punted 62 times for 2,348 yards… Had eight punts of at least 50 yards with 19 of his punts being downed inside the 20-yard line… Twenty-five of his punts were fair caught and only four of his punts resulted in a touchback… Punted a season-high nine times at Boise State (10/1) for an average of 39.1 yards per kick… Had three 50-yard punts against the Broncos and had a season-high four of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line in the game… Punted six times for 261 yards (43.5 ypp) in the season-finale at BYU (11/26), including a season-long 56-yarder, while two of his punts were downed inside the 20-yard line… Averaged 43.4 yards on five punts at USC (9/10), which included a season-long of 56 yards… Had two punts downed inside the 20-yard line against the Trojans… Averaged 44.3 yards on seven punts against San Diego State (10/28), including a long of 52 yards… Six of his seven punts against the Aztecs were fair caught, and one of his punts was downed inside the 20-yard line… Had at least one 50-yard punt in six different games during the season and at least two punts downed inside the 20-yard line in seven games.

2015 (RS-FR): Punted in all 13 games and finished the season ranking ninth in the Mountain West averaging 41.3 yards per punt... Punted 72 times for 2,974 yards, including a career-long and Famous Idaho Potato Bowl-record 69-yarder against Akron (12/22)... Had nine punts of at least 50 yards with 27 of his punts being downed inside the 20-yard line, including at least one in 12 games... Also had nine punts downed inside the 10-yard line... Had just three touchbacks on his 72 punts... Punted 13 times for 463 yards (35.6 ypp) in his first career game against Southern Utah (9/3), as those 13 punts are the second-most in both USU and Mountain West history, and a freshman record in both school and conference history... Averaged a season-best 50.3 yards on seven punts (352 yards) at Air Force (11/14)... Had a season-high four punts downed inside the 20-yard line at New Mexico (11/7) as he punted six times for an average of 46.5 yards (279 yards)... Downed three punts inside the 20-yard line against Southern Utah, San Diego State (10/23), Nevada (11/21) and Akron, as two of those punts against the Zips were downed inside the 5-yard line... Also had one special teams tackle during the season... Earned academic all-Mountain West honors.

2014 (RS): Redshirted during his first season at Utah State.

HIGH SCHOOL: Earned Utah Class 5A all-Region 2 second-team honors at tight end as a junior and all-Region 2 first-team honors at punter during his sophomore season at Viewmont High School in Bountiful, Utah, as he averaged 38.9 yards per punt and helped the Vikings to the Region 2 Championship... As a sophomore, he was 41-of-43 (.953) on extra points and 10-of-11 (.910) on field goals with a long of 41 yards... Also earned all-Region 2 honors at punter as a senior... A three-year letterwinner in basketball and averaged 4.7 points and 3.3 rebounds as a senior, helping the Vikings finish second in Region 2.

PERSONAL: One of three children of Matthew and Cheryl Dalton... Was the Punt, Pass and Kick Regional Champion and finished fifth nationally in 2010... Majoring in business administration.
